What to Wear on the First Date

*A key point to remember when choosing clothes for a first date: Be practical.

Rule #1: Always Dress to Impress
This doesn’t entail dressing in a suit, however, it needs to look like you put in enough effort to deserve a sincere compliment.

Rule #2: Dress According to the Destination
Again, be practical. Know where you’re going and respect all dress codes. Also, if it’s going to be warm, dress like it. Likewise if it will be cooler. Which leads to the next rule…

Rule #3: Bring a sweater or some piece of Outerwear
In public facilities, it’s always going to be cold. They don’t plan on you staying there for long periods of time because they want to rotate customers. Besides, the sweater isn’t necessarily for you, it’s for your date, you gentleman, you.

Rule #4: ALWAYS wear nice clean shoes
I stress this a lot nowadays because it needs to be said. Women really do pay attention to the shoes you wear. Be mindful. No scuffs. No frayed or torn laces. NO LEANING SOLES. That last one is just embarrassing. If the soles of your shoes are worn to one side so badly that you become bow legged…throw them out. That is all.

Rule #5: Have fun!
Sounds cliche right? A lot of guys want to dress up, so they look stiff, they choose some high priced restaurant that they’ve NEVER gone to, and then end up talking about themselves and why they’re so paid and great. That drives a woman away. The only thing you want to do is show her a good time! Do that!
